PASADENA, Texas – The San Jacinto College Foundation continues its journey to turn dreams into realities with the announcement of an anonymous $1.5 million grant to support the Promise campaign. The campaign supports the Promise @ San Jac Scholarship which provides graduating high school seniors living in the College’s taxing district with a no-debt pathway to a certificate or associate degree at San Jacinto College.
The grant is a two-part gift that will be used to further the Foundation's mission to remove financial barriers and foster student access and success. An initial outright gift of $500,000 was made upon grant approval, with the remaing $1,000,000 to be provided contingent on the Foundation raising matching funds from additional private donors. The gift match will be given in two equal installments eligible to the Foundation by Oct. 31, 2025, and Jan. 31, 2026.
The Promise @ San Jac Scholarship is at the heart of San Jacinto College's commitment to equitably provide access to higher education for all students in the region. This anonymous gift moves the Foundation much closer to its fundraising goal of a $30 million dollar endowment, which will fund the Promise @ San Jac Scholarship program in perpetuity for future students.
"Every student should have access to a quality education, and the Promise @ San Jac Scholarship is helping us remove the financial barriers that too often stand in the way of that goal,” said Robert Cage, executive director of the San Jacinto College Foundation. “Thanks to generous and transformational donations such as this, we are seeing dreams become reality for high school seniors in our community. This grant will go a long way in supporting our students’ futures, and we are deeply grateful."
The San Jacinto College Foundation believes that supporting students today is an investment in the future of the community. Through initiatives like the Promise @ San Jac Scholarship, the Foundation is ensuring that students have the resources they need to succeed and contribute to a brighter tomorrow.
