Transfer Spotlight: Isabel Reyna
This is part of an ongoing transfer series about students who are using San Jacinto College as a launchpad to higher degrees.
A: I’m currently pursuing a degree in natural science at San Jacinto College with the
intention of applying for a university diagnostic medical sonography program. I will
graduate from San Jac this fall and my university program in fall 2026.
Q: Share your San Jac story:
A: I never imagined myself being as invested in school as I am today, and the encouragement of my beautifully talented mother and sister, who had also graduated from San Jac, gave me the inspiration to pursue my academic education after high school.
Q: What have you enjoyed most about your time at San Jac?
A: I deeply enjoyed my time with the San Jac honors program. I never imagined I would be applying myself to more challenging but rewarding coursework and responsibilities. This program has given me several wonderful opportunities to grow — not only as a student but also as a person.
Q: Do you want to give a shoutout to any faculty or staff who supported you?
A: I would like to give a shoutout to Professor Amy Mangrum for recommending me to the San Jac honors program. With this, I also would like to give my thanks to the honors program for giving me multiple different academic opportunities.
Q: What’s next for you?
A: After this fall, I plan to transfer to Midwestern State University, and I plan to pursue a bachelor’s degree in radiologic science. My ultimate career goal is to apply my academic learning from both San Jac and Midwestern State University to become a radiologist.
Q: What advice would you give someone else who wants to start at San Jac, then transfer?
A: Always be open to change and take advantage of all the information and resources offered to help ensure a smooth transition into going to college and/or transferring to a different college. Never be afraid to ask for help. Having communication skills is a crucial skill you will need, and the San Jac community is a great place to start developing that skill.
